A lot of people think that structure is the enemy of creativity. Routines are for boring pencil-pushers. Real artists are eccentric, messy, and weird.
They get caught up in the romanticism of kooky eclecticism, a quasi-bohemian lifestyle as chaotic as it is artistic. While it's true that some people do authentically live this way, it also creates a false narrative that artists must live this way in order to be considered real artists. Put this right along side artists "suffering" for their art.
But it doesn't have to be this way.
Routines are magic. Structure is magic.
You see, the more chaos you have in your life, the more variability there is. The more variability you have, the more uncertainty and the more decision you need to make on a daily basis. The more decision you have to make, the less energy you have for other stuff...like...being creative.
Building a creative routine reduces variability. Less variability, less uncertainty, less decisions, more energy. Instead of "What am I doing?" / "Why am I doing?" / "How am I doing?" you get doing, doing, doing.
A creative routine frees you up to save your energy for decisions that truly matter, the creative ones.
If you're ready to build your creative routine, head on over to my freebies section and pick up the Habit Organizer. It's free and it'll help you not only start building a creative routine, but a daily routine as well.
Have fun, and ART BADLY!
